Where can I find more information about parking on-campus?

All students are eligible to register for on-campus parking. In advance of registering, please view the list of student permit types and their associated fees. Registration for fall and annual permits for the 2021 - 2022 academic permits opens on a rolling basis according to credit level beginning in July.

Who is eligible for on-campus parking?

Any student, including freshman resident students, are eligible for on-campus parking.

Where does Shuttle-UM go?

Shuttle-UM has routes that run across campus, to the College Park Metro station and many of the surrounding areas including Hyattsville, Greenbelt, Silver Spring, Adelphi, and further out to Columbia and Gaithersburg.

 

Where can I find Shuttle-UM schedules?
You can find all Shuttle-UM schedules on the Transportation Services website under Shuttle-UM or use the short link: go.umd.edu/schedules Links to an external site.. You can currently view our limited summer service and our fall schedules will become available over the summer.

How does Shuttle-UM work?

Shuttle-UM is fare-free. All you need is your university ID for the off-campus routes, otherwise, you can hop on and hop off Shuttle-UM whenever you need. You can become a Shuttle-UM pro by reading through our Rider Guide at go.umd.edu/rider-guide Links to an external site.

 

Is overnight transportation available?
Late-night transportation is available with NITE Ride. NITE Ride is an on-demand service that runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. daily when the university is open. Download the TransLoc app Links to an external site. to call a NITE Ride.

 

I’m new to riding transit. Any suggestions on how to get started?

Is UMD a good place to bring my bike?

Yes, UMD was named a Gold-Level Bicycle Friendly University from the League of American Bicyclists for the wealth of cycling resources available. Check out all the resources available on the Transportation Services website Links to an external site.

 

Do I need to register my bike or e-scooter?

Yes. It’s free to register your bike or e-scooter. Our Bike Index registration Links to an external site. provides a record of ownership that aids authorities in locating the owner of a stolen bike or e-scooter, and helps with the planning and implementation of bicycle infrastructure improvements at the university. Only registered bicycles/e-scooters are eligible for DOTS’ free lock-cutting service. DOTS is able to cut U-locks or cable locks. 

 

Where do I park my bike or e-scooter?

With the universities climate action plan being accelerated to 2025, sustainable transportation is more important than ever.
