- Submitting a text entry box or a website url
E-portfolios (also known as electronic portfolios) allow you to think about your coursework in new ways, exploring the specific skills and abilities you have gained from assignments and experiences throughout college. You can even use the e-portfolio to demonstrate these unique skills during the internship/job application and interview process with employers.
The University of Maryland has provided each student with access to an electronic portfolium through a platform called Portfolium. This tool is available to you as a student and you are able to retain it even after you graduate. In this assignment, you will start the process of building your own e-portfolio on Portfolium.
Instructions:
1. Sign into Portfolium using your UMD credentials. Visit https://umdcp.portfolium.com/ Links to an external site. and click "UM Single Sign-on." You may need to input your directory ID and password.
2. Begin to build out your profile. This is where you can let your creativity shine through but, at a minimum, be sure to complete the following sections: Introduction and Education.
3. Portfolium will suggest other sections that may be relevant to your background including: Work Experience, Accomplishments, Volunteer Work, Courses, Certifications, Clubs, Publications and Athletics. It is also highly recommended that you add a headshot and cover photo to your profile.
4. Add at least 2 projects to your profile. These can be projects from your classes, internships or other experiences you have had both inside and outside the classroom. At the top right of your profile, hit the "+ New Project" button. Follow the prompts to give your project a title, upload the project as an attachment, select its category, provide a description and include relevant skills, teammates and tags.
