On October 14th, the UMD community had the opportunity to celebrate Indigenous People's Day by answering three prompts related to the importance and relevance of native history. The prompts allowed students to comment on how native communities intersect with their life and why changing Columbus to Indigenous is important. Students voiced their opinions by displaying them on sticky notes under the corresponding prompt. Along with this, the American Indian Student Union co-facilitated a Black Student Union general body meeting where afro-indigenous culture was discussed in terms of its presence on campus.
